In most European countries, translations of science fiction, fantasy and horror by American writers are available in large quantities, but very little is available by writers from other European nations. It is easy to get the impression that the fantastic genres are a purely American phenomenon, but that is very far from being the truth. Many European countries have long and thriving traditions for writing stories of the fantastic, often with unique perspectives not seen in American fiction.
This anthology presents new stories of the fantastic from a dozen Eurpean nations, from Finland in the north to Spain the south and Romania in the east. Many of the stories have won awards in their own countries, including one which is nominated for this year's Hugo Award. You can read strange and fantastic tales about angels and aliens, and wonder and terror in past, present, and future worlds.
